Planning a teenager’s birthday is a balancing act. Too childish, and they roll their eyes. Too grown-up, and you can’t let them go. And between 12 and 17, there is a world of difference. The good news is that Paris has plenty of activities teens genuinely enjoy that come with a ready-made birthday package. We kept 6, with prices, capacities and above all supervision rules, checked on their official websites.

What changes between a kids party and a teen party

Two things. First, a teenager no longer wants to be entertained. They want to play, as a team, with their friends, not follow an entertainer running games. Second, they hate being singled out in front of the group. The formats that work are those where everyone plays at the same time and success is collective, against the clock or towards a shared goal.

The other difference is practical. Up to 14 or 15 depending on the venue, an adult has to stay on site. Beyond that, many activities let the group play alone. That decides whether you spend the afternoon there or drop off and come back.

If it is exactly their 12th, our guide to a 12th birthday party in Paris covers the formats that work at that in-between age.

Action games and escape games, the safe bets

Bomb Squad Paris, the action game that gets everyone moving

Bomb Squad, at 94 boulevard de Sébastopol in the 3rd, is a one hour team mission for 2 to 6 players. Four challenges mixing movement and thinking (floor tiles, lasers, memory, teamwork), then a final bomb to defuse. It is more physical than an escape game and far less brainy, perfect for a group of teens who need to burn off energy. Staggered start times let up to 60 participants play over two hours, handy when the whole class is invited.

Bomb Squad offers a birthday package from 30 euros per person, with the hour of play, a table reserved for the group for one hour, unlimited soft drinks and sweets, and a souvenir photo. You bring the cake. The activity is open from age 7, with an adult up to age 15. To understand the format, read our guide to the action game in Paris.

Batman Escape, full immersion for ages 13 and up

Batman Escape, at 30 avenue Corentin Cariou in the 19th, is an escape game under official DC Comics licence. The three missions last 70 minutes and take 2 to 24 players per room. For teens aged 13 and up, the website highlights deeper immersion, with The Joker, Le Commissariat and The Batcave missions, and a lounge to keep the party going.

Two packages, Classic at 36 euros per participant and VIP at 50 euros with cake, drinks, a gift for the birthday person, a lounge table and a printed group photo. Under 15s must be accompanied by an adult.

Taktic, the escape game with rooms that suit teens

Taktic, at 34 bis avenue d’Italie in the 13th, has 7 escape rooms for 2 to 7 players. For a first escape game, the website recommends the Atlantis room or the Roman Empire one, and suggests capping teens at 7 players per room. Games cost 28 euros per player from 6 players, and the birthday offer adds one hour in the private party room before or after the game, with drinks and sweets provided. You bring the cake and candles.

An adult is required up to age 14. Watch out for the Appartement 1B room, a horror room Taktic strongly advises against for under 16s. To compare with other rooms, have a look at the best escape games in Paris.

More original formats to stand out

Cinévasion, the venue with an offer built for 12 to 17 year olds

Cinévasion, in the 15th, has a birthday offer designed for ages 12 to 17, with four activities to choose from. A one hour escape game in one of three scenarios, up to 7 players per room, from 27 euros per player. A one hour introductory murder mystery run by a professional actor, for 6 to 8 players, from 28 euros. A one hour karaoke session for 4 to 21 people, from 19 euros per person. Or a 21 seat cinema room for a screening or a gaming session.

As an option, a private party room for around 15 people, at 120 euros for the first hour and 99 euros for each extra hour. It is the most complete address for a group that cannot agree on a single activity. If the murder mystery appeals, our piece on the murder mystery party in Paris explains how a game works.

Virtual Room, team virtual reality

Virtual Room, at 35 boulevard Richard-Lenoir in the 11th and place de la Porte Maillot in the 17th, runs 45 minute virtual reality escape games played as a team. The under 26 rate is 26 euros per person, against 30 euros at the standard rate. For younger kids, a 40 euro birthday pack from age 8 adds personalised mini games and an hour of party snack in a reserved space.

VR is a big hit with gamer teens, and it has an advantage for a group that does not know each other well, everyone discovers it at the same time, nobody has a head start.

BAM Karaoke Box, for groups who know each other well

BAM Karaoke Box has five venues in Paris (2nd, 8th, 9th, 11th and 17th), with private rooms for up to 30 people, from 10 euros per person for two hours. The brand has a dedicated offer for kids and teens.

Karaoke works brilliantly with a close group of friends, much less with a group where some people do not know each other. In that case, go for a team game instead.

Budget, guests, booking, the reflexes to have

On budget, count 26 to 36 euros per teen for the activity alone, up to 50 euros with a full package. Check whether the party room is included, as at Bomb Squad or in Batman Escape’s VIP package, or charged separately, as at Cinévasion. For 8 guests, the total budget is around 250 to 400 euros.

On guests, 6 to 10 teens is the easiest format. Beyond 7, one escape room is not enough, you need to book several in the same slot. On booking, two to three weeks for a Saturday or a Wednesday afternoon, a month during school holidays.

Frequently asked questions

What activity works for a teen birthday party in Paris?
The activities that work best between 12 and 17 are those that get the whole group playing at the same time without putting one teen alone in front of the others. Action games, escape games, murder mystery parties run by an actor and team virtual reality are the most requested formats. Private karaoke also works, as long as the group knows each other well.
How much does a teen birthday party cost in Paris?
Most teen-friendly activities cost between 26 and 36 euros per participant, and full birthday packages go up to 50 euros with cake, drinks and a gift. Some venues charge the party room separately, around 120 euros an hour. For 8 teens, plan a total budget of 250 to 400 euros.
Does a group of teens need an adult with them?
Yes, up to an age that depends on the venue. At Taktic, an adult is required up to age 14. At Bomb Squad and Batman Escape, under 15s must be accompanied. Check the rule when booking, one adult is often enough for the whole group.
Where to celebrate a 13th or 14th birthday in Paris?
At 13 and 14, aim for something a bit more intense than at 10, without going into horror. Batman Escape’s teen missions, Bomb Squad’s action game or an introductory murder mystery like Cinévasion’s are well pitched for that age. Avoid escape rooms rated as horror, which are often not recommended for under 16s.
How many teens should you invite to a birthday?
Between 6 and 10 guests is the easiest format. Most escape rooms take 6 to 7 players, beyond that you need to book several rooms at the same time. Formats with staggered start times, like the action game, handle bigger groups without anyone waiting too long.
How far ahead should you book a teen birthday party?
Two to three weeks for a Saturday or a Wednesday afternoon, a month during school holidays. Weekend slots go first everywhere, and a group that needs to play at the same time in several rooms needs even more notice.
